Diamond city. International port (2nd largest in Europe), centre of Fine Arts, fashion capital, city where Rubens spent most of his life.

You’ll discover it all during this walk. How the city grew from a small rural village to one of the best cities for a city trip (according to Lonely Planet 2009). We walk by the Castle, built in the 11th century to protect the city against the enemy who was just across the vlaeykensgang (2)river, the Antwerp Cathedral, the impressive renaissance city hall and other historical monuments, silent witnesses of the splendour of this city in the 16th century.

Walking through the narrow streets of the historic city centre you’ll get a good idea how the settlement developed into a world famous metropolis.Ludiek Antwerpen met Carolien (1)
