Antwerp does not allow cars in large parts of the historic centre, ideal for bicyclist’s! Besides, a bicycle tour is a perfect way to get to know a city and its neighbourhoods.
Carolien awaits you at bike rental company Freewheeler on the Steenplein (under the promenade aong the Schelde river). From there she will take you on a historical bicycle tour right through the heart of the old city centre. We’ll explore familiar and less familiar areas on a relaxing and entertaining way (if the Belgian weather allows it).
We’ll discover the Paris-inspired trendy area ‘South’, a majestic 19th-century neighborhood. Or we take the original original wooden escalators in the authentic pedestriantunnel under the Schelde river and bike all the way to the beach.
Later on we explore the old port where “het Eilandje” (the small island) is becoming the new place to be. Beautiful warehouses are silent witnesses of the glorious maritime past and now await a promising future.
Just look at the major projects here, some finished already, others still in the pipeline: the MAS, the Red Star Line Museum, harbor house, … and the many residential ^rojectsright in the heart of Antwerp’s maritime history.
We ride like the wind along the riverside and return our bikes.
